Bednar Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits | It seemed that New Orleans starting pitcher George Bednar could do no wrong as the Maroons KO'd the Moccasins, 15-2. Bednar rapped out 5 hits in 7 at-bats and seemed to know which pitches Moccasins hurlers were throwing.
"I think the Maroons were stealing signs," growled one unhappy Montgomery fan after the game.
"I felt good. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," said the jubilant Bednar in the postgame press interview.
George Bednar grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run single in the 8th.
This season in 8 starts, George Bednar has a record of 2-6 with 53 strikeouts in 71.2 innings and a 2.13 ERA. | |
