Emerson Electric in 5-0 Win | Fans at Slag Park witnessed the Birmingham Smokers blank the Nashville Stones, 5-0, on the strength of a superb effort from starter George Emerson. The Birmingham right-hander allowed 3 hits in recording the shutout.
"George was good today, but I don't want to focus too much on a single game," Birmingham manager Bob Goble said. "If you're capable of playing at this level, you're capable of having a good game. The real question is if you can learn from that game and repeat it."
This season, Emerson has worked 201 innings with 93 strikeouts en route to a 20-3 record and a 2.28 ERA. | |
