Big Day with Bat: Hoffman 5-for-7
Fritz Hoffman was at the head of a Cincinnati hit parade at Union Grounds. The center fielder went to the plate 7 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Satraps to a nice 18-4 victory over the Brooklyn Unions.

"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Hoffman told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."

Unions skipper said later that the club gave up "too much plate."

"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."

Fritz Hoffman grounded out in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.

This season, Hoffman is batting .387 with 1 home run.
