 | Messer Accepts EA Player of Week Honor Monday, October 1st , 1888 Julius Messer of the Allentown Peanuts took charge on the mound last week and was named the Eastern Association Player of the Week today. Messer pitched his way to 2 wins while throwing 18 innings. He put up 6 strikeouts and a 0.50 ERA as he held opposing hitters to a .224 batting average.
