| Super Swinger -- Lippmann Slams 5 Hits Monday, August 24th , 1896 It seemed that Milwaukee left fielder Saul Lippmann could do no wrong as the Knights KO'd the Stockmen, 11-3. Lippmann rapped out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and seemed to know which pitches Stockmen hurlers were throwing.
"I think the Knights were stealing signs," growled one unhappy Kansas City fan after the game.
"I felt good. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," said the jubilant Lippmann in the postgame press interview.
Saul Lippmann hit an RBI triple in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit a three-run triple in the 7th.
This year, Lippmann is batting .395 with 7 home runs and 64 RBIs. In 96 games he has scored 116 times.
