 | Des Moines Snaps Harrington Streak at 21 Sunday, September 6th , 1896 The Des Moines Pioneers pitching staff did its job, holding hot-hitting Joseph Harrington hitless in 3 at-bats during the club's 4-3 victory over the Toledo Mudcats at Pioneer Park Grounds. The disappointing performance ended a 21-game hitting streak for the shortstop. "I'm a little down right now," Harrington said after the game. "I couldn't get anything going when the team needed me, and I hated to see the streak end, too." Harrington is currently batting .343 with no home runs, 34 RBIs and 39 runs scored.
