| Warriors Shut Out Prairie Dogs, Botts Winner Friday, August 12th , 1887 The Kansas City Prairie Dogs were almost helpless in their 1-0 loss to the Peoria Warriors and hurler Paul Botts. Botts kept the Prairie Dogs confused all game, spinning a 5-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Botts," Kansas City manager said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 27-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 3 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Botts said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
