| 5-for-6 Game for Shotwell Saturday, June 30th , 1888 Dick Shotwell exploded for a barrage of base hits at Terriers Park.
The Davenport second baseman had a field day in his team's 16-6 triumph over the St. Paul Terriers, finishing 5-for-6.
"My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch."
Shotwell must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Dick Shotwell hit an RBI single in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, flied out in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
This year, Shotwell is hitting .294 with 2 home runs. | | |
