New York Columbians starter Martin Bird kept the Milwaukee Creams hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 8-2 win. With the win, New York goes to 7-9.

A key moment came when Bird faced Milwaukee hurler Nathan Hutchings in the top of the sixth. The Columbians, who were trailing 1-0, had the bases loaded. Bird got a first pitch splitter and hit a 2-run single.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said New York manager .
