The Washington Columbians faced a tough opponent in Cincinnati pitcher Franklin Fuller, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Columbians Stadium by a final score of 5-4. Fuller went 8.2 innings and allowed 5 runs. John Kershaw, the winning pitcher, improved to 13-21. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 10 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 3. The win has Washington at 21-35.

Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, top prospect John Kershaw had a chance to be the hero. Cincinnati pitcher Franklin Fuller had other ideas. But with one out, Kershaw hit a sacrifice fly. The Columbians had themselves a dramatic win.

"It's great when the crowd gets into it," Kershaw said.
