| Chicago Stymied by Strickland | All went well for Wilton Strickland of the St. Louis Pioneers as he pitched his team to a shutout victory, 4-0, over the Chicago Catamounts, limiting them to 6 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Strickland on the day.
"Wilton's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Pioneers manager . "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
In the contest, the St. Louis right-hander rang up 7 and surrendered no walks.
"He didn't give us any second chances," said Catamounts manager . "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."
Currently Strickland has a 3-6 won-lost record in 9 starts with a 3.62 ERA. He also has 44 strikeouts in 74.2 innings. | | |  | |
