| Pioneers 2, Catamounts 1 | The St. Louis Pioneers and Chicago Catamounts put on a pitchers' duel.
St. Louis starter Dave Daniel kept the Chicago offense from doing much damage. The left-hander leaned on his fastball in leading the Pioneers to a 2-1 win. St. Louis sits in third place in the National Alliance at 43-32.
The Pioneers got a big at-bat from center fielder Icicle Mullen. For the game, Mullen went 1-3 with a home run. In the bottom of the second, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave St. Louis a 2-1 lead.
