| Pioneers Blank Boston, Kershaw Winner | In a seemingly effortless performance, John Kershaw of the St. Louis Pioneers shot down the Boston Brahmins, 4-0, on 6 hits.
"John was just locating so well and using his pitches," St. Louis manager said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."
Kershaw recorded 9 strikeouts and no walks in a strong outing.
"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," Boston manager said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."
