Cream City Grounds did not lack for drama.

Detroit got a terrific game from catcher Bob Marshall. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Milwaukee, 8-7. Marshall went 3 for 5 with 2 triples and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Norm Schmitt picked up the win with 9 innings of work. He allowed 7 runs on 10 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 6-6.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Milwaukee. That's when Byron Eggleston hit a bases-clearing double off 28-year old right-handed pitcher Norm Mason to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Eggleston said.

For the Sturgeons, the loss makes them 6-13.
