Bells Handed 5-2 Loss by Boston
The Boston Brahmins picked up a win at Brahmins Grounds, topping the Philadelphia Bells, 5-2. On the mound for Boston was right-hander Woody Ross. He played a principal role in the triumph. The Brahmins improved to 55-33.

The Brahmins used some clutch hitting to beat the Bells, a good example being the at-bat of Dan Buckner in the bottom of the eighth. With two down, Buckner gave his team the lead, 3-2, when he hit a run-scoring single.

"There's a lot in this game you can't control. Just take what the game gives you. I was just doing my best to help the team win," Ross told the Boston Herald.
