It might have been a rain-shorted game, but Provincials fans didn't seem to mind as long as their team got the win.

Toronto center fielder Isaac Montgomery helped his team beat the St. Louis Pilots, 15-6. Montgomery, who led the IA in runs with 85 in 1885, went 4 for 6 for the Provincials. The winning pitcher was Fred Brody. His record now stands at 22-23. The right-hander went 7 innings, allowing 6 runs on 8 hits for the Provincials.

The Provincials took the lead, 13-1, in the top of the fifth inning. Facing St. Louis hurler Lee Ennis with two outs, Doc McGuire hit a 2-run single.

Montgomery said afterward that he was glad to contribute to the win.

The third-place Provincials now sit at 62-54.
