| Nelson Tags Federals for 5 Hits | It was a good day at Western Grounds. The Indianapolis Westerners whipped the Washington Federals, 8-1, and shortstop Kermit Nelson showed off a hot bat, going 5-for-5 at the plate.
"Some days, lady luck is on your side," Nelson told BNN reporters after the game.
Westerners manager told the beat writers otherwise, calling the 30-year-old "focused and patient."
"It's not luck," the skipper said. "He has a solid approach to hitting. Kermit hits to all fields. The more solid at-bats you put together, the more success you're going to have."
Kermit Nelson singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a two-run single in the 8th.
In 88 games Nelson is hitting .310 this season with 112 hits, 1 home run, 55 RBIs, 23 walks, .356 OBP and has scored 58 runs. | | | | |
