Sad Sack Federals Lose 7th Straight
In a tight contest at Capitol Park, the Louisville Colts edged the Washington Federals by the score of 7-6. Louisville right fielder Charlie Shanafelt, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. The winning pitcher was Ed Lane. He's now 22-12. He went 8 innings, allowing 6 runs on 10 hits for the Colts. The Federals, now 31-56, have lost 7 in a row.

The Colts used some clutch hitting to beat the Federals, a good example being the at-bat of Larry Buckley in the top of the ninth. With two down, Buckley gave his team the lead, 7-6, when he hit a run-scoring single.

"From the last whatever, five, six, seven games, there's really only one way to go and that's up," said losing manager .
