The Cleveland Clippers and New York Excelsiors put on quite a show.

Despite a fine performance by left fielder Jonathan Coddington, the New York Excelsiors lost to the Cleveland Clippers, 8-7, in 12 innings. Coddington went 3 for 6 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 4 runs. The Clippers go to 37-80 with the win.

The critical at-bat for Cleveland came in the top of the 12th inning. With two out, Joe Taylor hit a run-scoring single, putting Cleveland up, 8-7.
