Clippers Stun Excelsiors, 10-5
A good performance from catcher Tom Duren helped the Cleveland Clippers defeat the New York Excelsiors, 10-5. Duren went 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 3 walks for the Clippers. The Clippers improved to 38-80.

The Clippers took the lead, 8-5, in the top of the eighth inning. Facing New York hurler Bill Nolette with two outs, Paul Jackson hit a 2-run single.

"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Duren.
