Monarchs Suffer 6-3 Setback
The Boston Brahmins defeated the Cincinnati Monarchs, 6-3, in International Association action at Queen City Grounds II. Boston pitcher Peter Gates had a standout performance. Boston is now 50-46, while Cincinnati is 52-42.

Paul Trail went 1 for 3, while adding 2 RBI for Boston. With one out and the game tied in the top of the eighth inning, Trail, who led the IA in OPS with .840 in 1882, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Cincinnati hurler Tom Bell, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Brahmins a 4-3 lead.

Boston manager was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
