| Poole Plays Big Role in Detroit Win | Detroit registered a win at Garrison Grounds by beating the Chicago Cyclones, 3-1. Pitcher Bill Poole was one reason why the Sturgeons triumphed. The Sturgeons now have a record of 73-54.
Poole, who leads the FL in strikeouts with 253, pitched a complete game for Detroit. Poole surrendered 6 hits over 9 innings and struck out 4. With the win, he moves to 30-20 on the season.
"Sometimes it sounds simple, but you have to go out there and pitch and execute," said Detroit manager . "Bill pitched his heart out."
