The Montreal Tigers beat the Toronto Provincials, 8-5, at St. Gabriel Grounds II. The win was due in part to third baseman Crab Shelton, who was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. With the win, Montreal raised its record to 83-50.

With Montreal leading 6-5 in the bottom of the eighth, Shelton came up to bat against Toronto pitcher Lawrence Phillips. Shelton hit a slider to left for a 2-run double. His 33rd double of the season put the Tigers on top, 8-5.

"Winning is seldom easy in this league," said Shelton.
