5-Hit Blitz by Jackson's Allen | Jackson catcher Charles Allen had a big day at Riverbend Park against the Montgomery Moccasins. The 29-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-6 and led to the 17-6 Senators triumph over Montgomery.
"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Allen said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."
Charles Allen walked in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 9th.
In 75 games this year, Allen has posted a .284 average and put up these numbers: 2 home runs, 58 RBIs and 30 runs scored. | |
