The Boston Brahmins locked up a win at Brahmins Grounds, knocking off the New York Excelsiors, 5-4. On the mound for Boston was right-hander Roy Kane. He played a major role in the triumph. The 6th-place Brahmins have won 7 straight.

John Hagan, who finished 2nd in the IA in RBI with 77 in 1883, aided the Boston cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the catcher was 1 for 4 with a double.
