The New York Barons defeated the Detroit Sturgeons, 6-5, in Federal League action at Columbia Field. New York pitcher Ted Carson had a standout performance. With the win, New York goes to 60-72, while the Sturgeons fall to 75-56.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when New York left fielder Jefferson McMillen, facing Bill Poole, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Barons the 6-5 win.

"I was the aggressor," said Carson. "No doubt about it."
