The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of New York fans at Columbia Field.

New York Barons starter Jack McKinley pitched his team past the Pittsburgh Vulcans, 4-2. McKinley, who finished 4th in the FL in innings pitched with 474.2 in 1886, went the distance for New York. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits.

The Barons got a big at-bat from third baseman David King. For the game, King went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 11th home run of the season gave New York a 3-2 lead.
