| Vulcans Knock Off Cyclones at Garrison Grounds | It might have been a rain-shorted game, but Vulcans fans didn't seem to mind as long as their team got the win.
The Pittsburgh Vulcans defeated the Chicago Cyclones, 4-3, in Federal League action at Garrison Grounds. Pittsburgh pitcher George Ashe had a standout performance. The 4th-place Vulcans are now 70-68, the Cyclones 69-68.
With no one out in the top of the third, Jerry Clay put Pittsburgh in front, 4-3, with a run-scoring single. The Vulcans went on to win the ballgame.
"Not to put too fine a point on it," said Clay, "but we really needed that win."
