| Bannermen Handle Cleveland, Snag 9-3 Win | The Baltimore Bannermen topped the Cleveland Clippers, 9-3, in International Association action at Lakefront Park. The standout performance belonged to Baltimore pitcher and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native Hugh Brigand. Brigand, now 23-20, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. Baltimore, at 57-54, holds down 6th place in the International Association.
Baltimore center fielder Rich Spencer helped his team get ahead early. In the top of the first, with the bases loaded, he hit a sacrifice fly.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Spencer. "And not try to do too much." | | | | |
