The Pittsburgh Vulcans topped the New York Excelsiors, 5-2, in International Association action at Excelsior Grounds. The standout performance belonged to Pittsburgh pitcher and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, native Ben Harris. The defeat makes New York 51-37.

Pittsburgh used the clutch hitting of Marty Wilson to capture the win. The catcher drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Vulcans the lead, 2-1. For the game, Wilson had 2 singles and 1 double in 4 at-bats.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Wilson.
