Clippers Suffer 3-1 Setback
The Montreal Tigers topped the Cleveland Clippers, 3-1, in International Association action at Lakefront Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Montreal pitcher Jack Kerwin. The winning pitcher was Kerwin, now 17-12. He tossed 9 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 2. The third-place Tigers go to 65-51.

Montreal relied on the hitting of Zebulon Shipe to pick up the win. The right fielder ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Tigers on top, 2-1. For the game, Shipe had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Clutch hitting plus clutch pitching usually equals a win," said Shipe.
