Unions Pick Up 10-7 Win
Getting a good performance from first baseman John Casey, the Philadelphia Unions defeated the Pittsburgh Vulcans, 10-7. Casey was 2-4 with a double and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 3 for the Unions. Jack Malley, the winning pitcher, improved to 22-28. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 15 hits and 7 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 1. Bancroft King converted his 4th save in 6 tries.

Philadelphia center fielder Charlie Vanmeter contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 143rd hit of the season and put the Unions ahead, 5-4.

"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Vanmeter.

Philadelphia, at 52-70, holds down 5th place in the Federal League.
