Vulcans Use Late Rally to Win
Pittsburgh Vulcans starter Stanley Lamb pitched a strong game against the New York Excelsiors at Vulcan Grounds, leading the Vulcans to victory, 5-4. Lamb, now 30-25, was the winner. Had John Clark not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Clark hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Vulcans.

"You can't take yourself too seriously," Lamb told the Pittsburgh Observer. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
