Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Minutemen
The Boston Minutemen trumped the Washington Legislators, 6-5, at Charlestown Grounds. Boston third baseman Dutch Dietz was terrific. He went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs. Roy Kane, who went 9 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 5 runs on 12 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 14-44. With the win, Boston has a record of 27-77. Washington falls to 37-68.

Dietz had a big at-bat with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the bottom of the eighth inning, when he hit a 2-run double. The Minutemen went on to win.

Dietz said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
