| Monarchs Turn Back Stars, 3-2 | The Cincinnati Monarchs got a marvelous performance from pitcher Joe Pappas. The right-hander kept the Indianapolis offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 3-2 Cincinnati victory at Queen City Grounds I. In 9 innings, Pappas surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. The win has Cincinnati at 8-10.
The Monarchs got a big at-bat from center fielder Icicle Mullen. For the game, Mullen was 2-4 with a double, while adding 3 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 8th double of the season gave Cincinnati a 3-2 lead.
"For the most part, I felt like I did a pretty good job with executing the pitches I was throwing," said Pappas.
