Westerners Use Late Surge to Win
The Indianapolis Westerners got a good effort from starter Doc Burbank in defeating the Chicago Cyclones at Garrison Grounds. The final score was 5-2. Burbank got the win, improving to 5-9. He gave up 7 hits and walked 2 over 9 innings. He allowed 2 runs. With the win, Indianapolis goes to 17-20, while the Cyclones fall to 20-20.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Tom Woods came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Chicago pitcher Jim Lucier, he hit a 2-2 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Indianapolis on top, 3-2.

"For the most part, I didn't think they knew what was coming," said Burbank.
