Sturgeons Slap 8-6 Loss on New York
The Detroit Sturgeons beat the New York Columbians, 8-6, at Riverside Park. Yank Williams, in particular, was impressive. He was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. The Sturgeons now have a record of 12-23.

Bob Marshall had a big 3-run home run for the Sturgeons in the bottom of the third inning. With Detroit trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from Tom Ewart and swatted a home run to center. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sturgeons ahead, 3-1.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Detroit manager .
