Creams Send Cleveland Home with 7-2 Loss | Milwaukee and Cleveland took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
Milwaukee Creams pitcher Norm Schmitt whisked his team past the Cleveland Blue Caps, 7-2. Schmitt, now 12-12, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs.
Milwaukee center fielder Ed Templin contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 47th hit of the season and put the Creams ahead, 2-0.
Templin told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
At 17-22, Milwaukee is in 6th place in the Federal League. | | | | |
