| Tigers Victorious at Cincinnati, 7-1 | Montreal took on Cincinnati in front of a lively crowd.
The Montreal Tigers went home winners at Queen City Grounds II, thanks in large part to starter Jack Kerwin. Kerwin stifled the Cincinnati Monarchs, enabling Montreal to grab the 7-1 win. The Monarchs fall to 7-10 and continue their uninspiring start to the 1888 season.
Montreal used a clutch at-bat from Buster Brown to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Tigers ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I'm proud to wear a Montreal jersey," Brown told the Montreal Chronicle. "We played a good game and came out with the win. What more can you ask for?"
