Colts Rally to Win
In a low-scoring affair between the Louisville Colts and the Philadelphia Unions, pitcher Ed Wales was the difference between victory and defeat. The Louisville right-hander earned kudos in the 3-2 Colts win. Wales, who finished 3rd in the FL in innings pitched with 445.0 in 1881, went the distance for Louisville. He gave up 2 runs on 9 hits. The Colts got a clutch hit from first baseman Pete Applegate. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Colts.
