Sturgeons Handle Creams, Grab 7-2 Win | The Detroit Sturgeons picked up a win at Riverside Park, topping the Milwaukee Creams, 7-2. On the mound for Detroit was right-hander Lloyd Dehaan. He played a principal role in the triumph. Dehaan, now 10-13, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. The 7th-place Sturgeons hiked their record to 16-26.
Yank Williams went 1 for 5. He drove in 2 runs for Detroit. The 24-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With no one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Norm Schmitt. It was his 51st hit of the season.
