| Toronto Bats Quiet in 7-1 Loss | The Pittsburgh Vulcans earned a win at Vulcan Grounds, knocking off the Toronto Provincials, 7-1. On the bump for Pittsburgh was right-hander Dennis Catchings. He had a starring role in the triumph. Catchings got the win, improving to 11-5. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 9 innings. He allowed 1 run. Toronto's current losing streak is now 5 games.
Shortstop Fletcher Hornback made an impact for Pittsburgh, when he swatted a run-scoring triple off George Ward in the bottom of the second. For the contest, Hornback was 2-3 with a triple, while scoring 2 runs.
"It was a good team win. Everybody threw something in," Hornback told the Pittsburgh Observer.
