5 Straight Wins for Tigers
Benefiting from Buster Brown's productive game, the Montreal Tigers downed the New York Excelsiors, 11-3. Brown went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 4 runs for the Tigers. The winning pitcher was 31-year old right-handed pitcher John Babbitt. He tossed 124 pitches over 9 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. The Excelsiors fall to 8-15 and continue their rocky start to the 1887 season.

In the bottom of the first, Dave Dye delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Montreal shortstop hit a 2-run single, putting the Tigers in front, 11-3.

"If we keep hitting the ball well, the wins will pile up," said Montreal skipper .
