Boston Brahmins right-hander Peter Gates pitched a good game against the Baltimore Bannermen at Brahmins Grounds, leading his team to victory, 9-3. Gates got the win, improving to 6-0. He gave up 6 hits and walked 4 over 9 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Now 15-5, the 1888 Brahmins have been sensational so far.

With Boston leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Gates hit a changeup from Hugh Brigand for a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Brahmins ahead, 4-1.
