The Indianapolis Westerners knocked off the Washington Federals, 7-4, in Federal League action at Western Grounds. Indianapolis pitcher and Summerville, South Carolina, native Doc Burbank had an outstanding performance. Indianapolis is now 22-35.

The decisive blow was delivered by Will Wessels in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 3-run home run off 34-year old left-handed pitcher Norm Schmitt to win the game for Indianapolis. The home crowd went nuts.

"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Burbank.
