Barons Fall, 8-6, to Louisville
Larry Buckley left his imprint on the 8-6 Louisville win against the New York Barons. Buckley, who led the FL in OPS with .929 in 1884, went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Ray Ball, the winning pitcher, improved to 7-5. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 12 hits and 6 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 2. The Colts, at 35-25, sit in second place in the Federal League.

Sam Day, who finished 5th in the FL in OPS with .830 in 1886, took New York hurler Tom Samples deep in the bottom of the seventh. His 3-run home run put the Colts on top, 8-6. In all, Day had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Buckley. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
