| Brahmins Slap 3-2 Loss on Tigers | In a low-scoring contest between the Boston Brahmins and the Montreal Tigers, Peter Gates was the X factor. The Boston right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Gates, now 2-9, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 4, and allowing 2 runs. The Brahmins, with just their 8th win in 26 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
Had Steve Rogers not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Rogers hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Brahmins.
"We had a good game plan," Gates said, "and we were able to execute it."
