Baltimore starter Nate Shine kept the Cleveland hitters in check, helping his team cruise to a win, 9-2. Shine, who is tied for 8th in the IA in complete games with 6, went the distance for Baltimore. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. The Clippers fall to 7-15 and continue their rocky start to the 1888 season.

Allen Aiken helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 2-run single to give Baltimore a 2-0 lead.

"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Shine told the Baltimore Bulletin. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
