Cyclones Lose to Westerners in Walk-Off
The timely hitting of Kermit Nelson helped the Indianapolis Westerners down the Chicago Cyclones, 6-5. Nelson was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Westerners. The winner was Bill McDonald, who threw 161 pitches over 9 innings. The right-hander was charged with 5 runs on 11 hits. The Westerners now have a record of 26-37 with the win over Chicago.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Indianapolis second baseman Bill Windom, facing Harlan Akins, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Westerners the 6-5 win.

"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Nelson said.
