The Detroit Sturgeons locked up a win at Riverside Park, knocking off the Pittsburgh Vulcans, 8-2. On the mound for Detroit was right-hander Bill Poole. He played a major role in the triumph. The third-place Sturgeons now sit at 40-25.

Poole threw well for Detroit, thwarting the Pittsburgh offense. The right-hander tossed 120 pitches over 9 innings. He allowed just 2 runs on 5 hits.
