| Pittsburgh Shuts Out Montreal, 4-0 | In an outstanding mound performance, Pittsburgh Vulcans starter John Babbitt fired a complete-game shutout against the Montreal Tigers at St. Gabriel Grounds.
Babbitt was the key to the 4-0 Pittsburgh win. The 28-year-old right-hander was in high spirits for much of the game, his mood largely unfazed by the 6 hits and 2 walks he allowed.
"6 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter, as long as it was a shutout."
On his stats sheet this season, Babbitt shows a 9-7 record, 16 starts, 140.1 innings, 56 strikeouts and a 2.37 ERA. | | |  | |
